Celebrating stories, community, and the wild spirit of the written word
We’re thrilled to announce that Books in the Woods will be part of the Eastern Sierra Book Festival this July!

📍 Friday, July 19th, 2025📚
10:00am-3:00pm
Eastern Sierra Book Festival
Mammoth Museum at the Hayden Cabin in Mammoth Lakes, California
Our team—including local author and BITW Chair Wayne Diehl, our BITW Vice-Chair and literary agent Gisa Seeholzer —will be camping under the stars and gathering with book lovers, storytellers, and publishers to celebrate the transformative power of books and community.
At the festival, we’ll be sharing our work from the mountains of Pine Mountain Club, CA, where Books in the Woods is building a Community Bookstore that centers on literacy, creativity, and cultural connection. Our programs—including Young Voices Read, Teen Zine Publishing, and the Pine Mountain Community Drum Circle—will be featured, alongside our vision of weaving together nature, music, and storytelling in ways that honor neurodivergent readers, Indigenous teachings, and our connection to the land.
🎤 Gisa Seeholzer will also be speaking on how to find and submit to a literary agent, helping aspiring authors take their stories from pages to possibilities.
Wayne Diehl will be there informing guests about his writing process and inspiration behind his novels, especially his historical fiction, Loyal Son.
We’ll have a table with literacy goods and more—so be sure to stop by, say hello, and learn about how we’re bringing stories to life amongst the pines and oaks of the Los Padres National Forest.
This event is a beautiful opportunity to connect with fellow readers, writers, and community dreamers. We can’t wait to see you there!
